Think about coming out, or just recently come out?

LGBTQ

It may be that you’ve come out and generally feel liberated and want to celebrate. You fully accept yourself and others accept you also. In which case that’s excellent, this page isn’t necessarily for you.

However, it may be that you feel increased anxiety around fear of rejection from others, fail to accept yourself, or are worried about facing discrimination and stigma.

Coming out is a life long process that involves coming out to friends, family, colleagues, professionals, service providers. Sometimes it can be on a daily basis. Often it can involve needing to correct assumptions from another person. For a trans person, they may need to come out to people who they wouldn’t usually share such personal information with, ie gas company, bank.

If we haven’t got strong psychological foundations to manage this, it can cause us to create stress, worry, low mood, impulsive behaviour and just generally feeling rubbish about ourselves. The Thrive Programme will equip you with the skills to feel powerful, more on control, good about yourself and worry less about what others think of you.

Whatever your situation, The Thrive Programme can help. Whilst we can’t change society individually, or the way people behave towards us, we can change the way we respond, our perspective and how empowered we feel.
